Her Infinite Garden

A few years ago, I decided to test out my green thumb and start a small garden in our backyard. I had been inspired by a girlfriend who always showed up to gatherings with Ziploc bags full of string beans, peppers, and fragrant herbs to share. I thought—why not me? So, I planted strawberry saplings, herbs, peppers, and even a peach tree.

In just a few weeks, my backyard transformed into magic. Lavender perfumed the air, strawberries peeked through their lush leaves, and my herbs and peppers brought flavor and color to my prepared meals

. The following year, that little peach tree rewarded me with the sweetest fruit I had ever tasted.

But this flourishing garden didn’t come easy. Every day, I had to water it with intention, protect it from pests, and pull up stubborn weeds. Through that effort, I learned a deeper truth: with love, consistency, and care, growth is inevitable.

My garden became a mirror for life. Everything I wish to grow—dreams, visions, even healing—needs the right conditions: patience, energy, and intention. Just like my plants, my inner desires could take root and bloom if I nurtured them.

Now, every planting season, I cultivate both my outer and inner gardens. Lemon thyme reminds me to bring zest into life, peppers add spice to my spirit, and holy basil grounds me in the sacred. Each plant carries an intention, revealing what the Creator has uniquely placed within me. My garden continues to flourish. It is infinite—around me and within me. _Brittney A. Prince
